When I was born with a cleft lip and palate there was no question that I would receive quality and outstanding care, not only in the early stage but for life. 1 in 700 children born in other countries around the world are not so fortunate. Currently I am a student ambassador for SmileTrain! This year I will be fundraising and spreading awareness to support SmileTrain and change children’s lives. One smile costs $250, when you donate you are supporting this cause and giving someone a chance to smile. Smiling is an incredibly important part of every individual, everyone’s smile is a little different and that is what’s so special about it. By giving the gift of a smile to someone you truly change their life forever. So much joy is spread with just a smile, this is why I am part of this organization and encouraging all of you to support the cause.
More about Smile Train’s mission:
Smile Train is an international children's charity with a sustainable approach to a single, solvable problem: cleft lip and palate.
Many children with clefts around the world live in isolation, but more importantly, have difficulty eating, breathing, hearing, and speaking. Smile Train's sustainable model provides training, funding, and resources to empower local doctors in 70+ countries to provide lifesaving surgeries and other essential cleft care to their neighbors in need, 100% free.
We use the "teach a man to fish" model focusing on training local doctors to perform cleft repairs in their communities. Those doctors then go on to train other doctors creating a long-term, sustainable system.
Patients see their smile for the first time, parents cry tears of joy, lives, and communities are changed forever.
As a result of our efficiency and with the support of our donors and partners around the world, Smile Train has transformed the lives of more than one million children by giving them the power of a smile.
Join us and change the world one smile at a time!
